Below you will find information on the library procedures, student expectations and other particulars to keep in mind when using the library!
General procedures
While in the Library
- Any student(s) coming to the library needs to have prior approval from the librarian and/or teacher. Students who arrive without permission will be sent back to class. All students should come with a pass from a teacher as well.
- Students in the library should respect the rights of others to use library materials, including but not limited to books, computers, printer(s) and tables.
- Please return all materials on time. 10 items may be checked out at a time and all materials have a two week checkout limit. You may renew items as long as no student has requested it.
- While we DO NOT charge late fees for overdue materials, students ARE responsible for paying the full replacement cost of lost items. Please see Ms. Moody or Ms. Catlett for any library dues you may owe.
- Due to the nature of the space, the library is used for communal activities like meetings and other out of school events during the week and weekend, so if you move any tables, chairs or other supplies please put everything back where you found them. Your help is greatly appreciated!
computer usage
There are a small amount of desktop computers available for use in library unless the library is being used for testing. Teachers may bring down an entire class but need to schedule a time via the library reservation system (must do this 24 hours in advance). Teachers are expected to accompany their class. If you need help, please see Ms. Moody or Ms. Ross.
You MUST use computers in accordance with the
KGCS Acceptable Use Policy.
In addition, All computers located in the library print to a black and white printer, color printing is NOT available.
Please use print preview and be aware of which printer you are sending the paper to.

Want to get your kids reading more? Let's do a booktalk in your classroom! This can be a highly customizable service. We can bring in new arrivals, KGHS favorites, non-fiction, or books centered around a theme or curriculum subject. PLEASE note due to the unique nature of this service we will need at least ONE WEEK NOTICE in order to set up exactly what you would like to see for your class.
If you want any other ideas to boost reader interest please contact Ms. Moody or Ms. Ross and we will be happy to help!
